History Of Mobile Phones

Mobile phones got there start around that we know today was launched in 1979 in Japan.  From there is swept across the world going from there to Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.  But it took until 1983 to get to the United States, and from there has grown to what it is today.  The phones of that time could basically only be used to make calls, and even then the service that was provided was sparse at best.  The service back then was in it's infancy and was very inconsistent.  It took until 1991 for the mobile phone community to become more reliable and since then the technology has increased ten fold.

If people back then were told that the phone they were carrying in there pocket would be able to check emails, take and send pictures, they would have laughed at you and thought you were crazy.  For the most part people reading this can remember when they got their first mobile phone, and I can tell you that I never thought my phone would be able to do a quarter of what it can today.  I honestly wouldn't know what to do if mobile phones couldn't text.  I can barely remember when my first mobile phone wasn't able to text.  I think I blocked that out of my mind because of the scariness of it.  Text messaging has only been around since the early 90's.  But since then almost 75% of the people that own a mobile phone text, and texting within the past couple years has been worth around $100 billion dollars.

With the increasing technology of mobile phones there have been some concern about what they are capable of doing.  Many schools have emplimented rules that restrict the use of mobile phones during school hours.  And due to the fact that so many phones have cameras on them, and that can be bad when people have that kind of abilities.  There are also many buildings and places that tell you to turn off your cell phones when you enter because they can interfere with their machines and electronics, these places also include airplanes.  During take offs and landings you are instructed to turn off your phones because it can interfere with some of the instruments of the airplane.

But with the technology there are also good things that people areab to do with their phones.  It is really convenient that you can actually look up places using your phone, many phones also have the capabilities of getting turn by turn directions on your phone.  Another great advantage of mobile phones today is that you can call from almost anywhere in the country.  That is good because there are circumstances where people could be in situations where they need help and you are able to call and get that help.  There are also situations where you can be found using cell phones and that may help if someone is in need and can't call, or incapable of being able to call.  So either way you look at it there are benefits and negatives of the advancements of technology.
